Open to all levels, not designed to sweat you up, so you can easily go back to work without offending your co-workers! Working with respiratory issues within the yoga practice: COPD, Asthma and other conditions of respiration. Respiratory disease and dysfunction is on the increase in the United States and around the globe. Exposure to airborne toxins, climate changes, lack of exercise, poor diet, smoking, diseases, and environmental factors all contribute the causes of respiratory conditions that negatively impact the lives of millions of people world-wide. This workshop focuses on some of the basic causes of respiratory disease and methods within the full spectrum of yoga that can work to improve the distress often associated. Excellent for yoga teachers & therapists, health care providers, and practicing yogis. This one day workshop, Yoga for Respiratory Conditions, will teach: Basics of Respiration; Role of the primary diaphragms in quality of life and activities of daily living; Role of the yoga teacher in working with students with respiratory disease; Yoga postures and sequences; Using Pranayama, the vayus, and sound to work with respiratory conditions; Meditation and relaxation techniques; Contra-indications and precautions.
