Another group of new yoga teachers have completed their 220 hours of yoga training. Some will become teachers, some took this to increase their personal knowledge, others to serve and to heal those suffering with mental illness, the difficulties of poverty and discrimination. The beauty to me, lies in the variety of service that yoga allows. To step out of the image that “yoga” is standing in front of a classroom full of eager students who want to do asana, and into the image that most of “yoga” occurs off the mat, is the goal, mission, purpose of the training at The Yoga Connection. To BE Yoga rather than DO yoga.
The marketing of yoga is the yogi/yogini on the mat, doing down-dog to up-dog to high-lunge….
Yoga is about health, healing, living, loving, relationships, social justice, education, wanting, giving, balance. All the ingredients for an amazing journey through your own life.
So go teach, go experience. Strive to let go of what the marketing of yoga says teaching should look like, and be a teacher according to your own values, principles, ability, and within the context of your own life.
