The International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT) now offers a 1000 hour yoga therapy training program.
In your studies to be a Certified Yoga Therapist, you will learn how to perform private yoga therapy sessions that focus on managing emotional and physical conditions of your clients. Conditions to consider when planning individual sessions may include lower back, knee, or hip issues, or any other physical disabilities. Psychosocial issues such as anxiety, depression and trauma are also part of yoga therapy practice. Management of these conditions uses practices of the breath, meditation practices and restorative/alignment centered approach, stemming from the Sri T Krishnmacharya lineage.
Certified Yoga Therapists are taught how to modify practices that use props, and incorporate both subtle and gross anatomy-physiology for the best results depending on your client’s condition and needs.
We encourage all those interested in furthering their yoga therapy education, or getting yoga therapy certified to check out the 1000 hour yoga therapy training program. Call 919-971-1431 for more information on yoga teacher training programs.
