RYS Yoga Alliance Teacher Training 200-Hour Certification
Yoga teacher training is now available through The Yoga Connection in Smithfield, NC. This 200-hour yoga instructor certification will follow the guidelines of the Yoga Alliance certification. The teacher training course is open to all levels of experience and is perfect for anyone seeking a yoga instructor certification in Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill or the surrounding Triangle areas. There are restaurants and hotels within minutes of the studio for individuals traveling from outside of the Triangle area.
Teaching training for 2012 has already begun. The next RYS Yoga Alliance certification program begins in February 2013. Space is limited.
Curriculum and Requirements
- Journal with a minimum of three entries per week
- Eight texts (recommended reading is supplemental)
- Asana, meditation, pranayama in personal practice and classroom setting
- Three tests on anatomy
- Three 1-3 page papers
- Must present minimum of three 1/2-hour classes as part of practicum
- Five classes outside of the studio (We can offer suggestions if you need ideas.)
- Community service (does not have to be yoga-related)
- You must be present for all weekends. (Private make-up classes available at additional cost.)

- Primary postures, Static and dynamic (flow) asana sequencing, Use of props in asana, Pranayama, Meditation
- Koshas/5 dimensions of the human body, Chakra, Bandhas, Gunas, Kryias, Chanting, Mantra
- Restorative, Prenatal yoga, Yin Yoga, Kids Yoga and Yoga for Seniors
- Anatomy & Physiology
- 8 limbs of Yoga (Patanjali), Upanishads (selected texts), Bhagavad Gita
- Philosophy and lifestyle, Teaching methods, Movement and counter-indications
- Business and marketing, Ethics

Weekend schedule for classes:
- Fridays 6-9pm
- Saturdays 9am-6pm
- Sundays 10am-5pm
