Prenatal Yoga & the Asana: Recognizing the needs of the pregnant student.

Women today are being encouraged to exercise during pregnancy. Many yoga teachers are finding pregnant women coming in to their regular yoga class, never having been exposed to the yoga asana or perhaps never even really exercised.
Yoga Alliance recognized the unique needs of pregnancy by instituting a specialized certification. This workshop with Nancy Gilbert E-RYT, CPYT will teach you the basic needs of pregnancy in the asana to keep mother and baby safe in a regular yoga class. She will offer techniques in hands on adjustments, prop modifications and instruction on the sensory association through smell, sound and visual aids.
This workshop is not certification in Prenatal Yoga and does not qualify anyone to teach prenatal yoga as a certified instructor. It is designed to help teachers feel at ease should a pregnant student drop in to a regular class and provides an opportunity for teachers to investigate pursuing a pre/post natal certification. Also, this workshop is for pregnant women to have an introduction to what prenatal yoga can offer them in a safe and structured environment.
Prenatal Yoga Certification will be offered by Nancy Gilbert in the Spring of 2013.
