I am at Duke Integrative Medicine, taking a course in Mindful Eating. I am constantly amazed at how the methods of mindfulness can change a person’s life. The practice of paying attention to the present moment, without acting on the activities of the mind, just being the observer for a few moments of you own life. Amazing what reveals it’s self when close attention is paid. The simple action of stopping and checking in with the sensations of the belly, the shoulders, the posture of the body before committing to an action can be revealing about our unnoticed habits and behaviors. Not a pill, no one yelling at you to do better, no recriminations about how you failed; just a simple pause to notice the sensations of yourself. Love it.
