We offer a variety of yoga classes at The Yoga Center yoga studios in Smithfield and Goldsboro, NC. Our yoga classes and descriptions are listed from the beginner to expert student.
Sundays Relax & Renew
Sundays are for therapeutic movement and restorative yoga. Each class is designed to gently and with great self-compassion, improve range of motion, muscle strength and power, and to reconnect you with the calming breath. Each restorative class brings the opportunity to relax jangled nerves, sooth sore muscles, prepare for the coming week with a calming practice.
Smithfield location only Sunday 4:30-5:30pm
Mindful Awareness Meditation
Every 3rd Monday of the month from 7-8pm ($5 per person at the door) Additional private and group classes upon request. Please contact Martha through The Yoga Connection. Mindful Awareness Medidation is a technique that helps us unlock ourselves from habits of unconscious reaction to the new possibilities of responding and being in our daily lives. Smithfield location only every 3rd Wednesday from 5:30-6:30
Posture fundamentals yoga class is designed to allow you to slowly, within your own comfort zone, learn and explore the yoga postures. In each class we will concentrate on 4-5 static poses, taking time to prepare the body and mind for an in-depth experience. At the end, we connect them all together, integrating the postures into an easy and explorative flow. This class is open to all levels—beginners, too!
Smithfield location: Tuesday 6:00-7:00-pm
Goldsboro location: Tuesday 5:30-6:30pm
Morning is a strengthening yoga class. Tone muscles, stabilize joints, and focus on muscles that are critical to supporting the spine. When combined with Tuesday morning stretch, and Yin or Flow Yoga on Wednesday evening, you will have a wonderful yoga practice that enhances your health & wellbeing.

Itsy Bitsy Yoga: crawling – 23 months
Itsy Bitsy Yoga for Tots is a supportive, fun-loving, and active yoga class. As tot’s mobility increases, classes offer tot-centric poses that encourage and support their physical explorations. Tots become more confident in their moving bodies as they practice yoga both in and out of class.
During a Tots Itsy Bitsy Yoga class crawlers and walkers playfully practice yoga postures while they are standing, sitting up, walking, and jumping. Parents also get to do a little yoga, but no yoga experience is required. Tots class is 45 minutes. A 6 week session, one class per week. (Parent or caregiver must be present and participating).
Goldsboro location Thursday 10:00-10:45 am (April 17 – May 22, 2014)
Similar to Posture Fundamentals but this class will focus more on introducing the various yoga poses and developing the skills of deep body and breath attention. This is an all levels class as modifications are offered. If you are a practicing yogi, stepping back into basics and slowing down to review and renew your present practice is always a benefit.

All Levels Yoga
If the week day has too many evening commitments, bring yourself into our Saturday morning class. If the week has thrown you off track, find your center again by joining mind and body in our all levels yoga class. If you feel you need to reset your body and regain your focus, this class is designed to offer you space to regroup and rebalance. Enjoy the positive physical and emotional energy of yoga.

Belly Dancing with Xenia. A fun filled adventure into the world of belly dancing. This 6 week session begins April 14, 2014. An introductory class that is designed to be fun, accessible but to also develop the correct techniques of this ancient form of expression that is uniquely female. Goldsboro location Monday 7:00-8:00pm (April 14 ending May 19, 2014)
This class focuses primarily on lengthening muscles, increasing range of motion, and developing general flexibility. Keeping the body flexible encourages better balance and enables smoother, easier motion. Learn different yoga postures while understanding the use of breath to open the body and facilitate a healthier physical state. A fundamental class that is perfect for beginners or experienced yogis. Modifications & props offered to accommodate beginner students.

Easy Does it Yoga
A great place to begin. Introducing stretching and strengthening of the body slowly and with gentle consideration. Especially good for individuals that are entering into a beginning fitness program after a period of inactivity. This class is one hour. A Gentle Beginner Class.

Goldsboro location Wednesday 11:00-12:00pm
In this class you will learn to move from one pose to the next in synchrony with the breath. The flexibility, strength and balance that the yoga postures bring to body and mind are integrated into this slightly more energetic class in a friendly and welcoming environment. A great class for individuals looking to introduce a moderate cardiovascular element to their wellness plan. All Levels though familiarity with the yoga poses and breath control will be helpful.

When Friday arrives, head to the studio for some end of the week yoga. Invigorating, exploring and restoring. A perfect way to end the busy week and turn your attention on you. Begins May 2, 2014.
